What to look for in your green print test

Solid block

The solid green field should be flat and even, with no white flecks or streaks and no lean toward blue or lime.

Density steps

The ten density steps should descend in even, visible increments. If a step blends into the next, cleaning the head usually restores it.

Gradient ramp

A smooth white-to-green fade with no banding shows cyan and yellow are both flowing correctly.

Common green ink problems & fixes

Green prints as blue or teal

Cause: Yellow cartridge is low or empty — green needs both cyan and yellow.

Fix: Check ink levels. Run this test alongside our Yellow Test Page to pinpoint the issue.

Green prints as lime or yellow-green

Cause: Cyan cartridge is low — too much yellow relative to cyan.

Fix: Check your cyan level. Run our Cyan Test Page to confirm.

Horizontal white streaks in green blocks

Cause: One or more printhead nozzles are clogged.

Fix: Run a head-cleaning cycle from your printer utility and repeat the green test.

Green band is too faint overall

Cause: Both cyan and yellow are running low.

Fix: Check ink levels and replace cartridges before your next print job.

Frequently asked questions

How do I do a green colour print test?
Hit the Print Test Page button, select your printer in the dialog that appears, and print. You'll see solid green fields, ten density steps from full strength to 10%, and a gradient ramp — together they show whether green prints evenly across heavy and light coverage.
Why is my green ink printing streaky or faded?
Green comes from cyan and yellow mixed together, so patchy or faded green normally means one of those nozzles is clogged or the cartridge is low. A head-cleaning cycle followed by a reprint of this page is the quickest way to tell whether it's a temporary blockage or a cartridge that needs replacing.
Does green ink come as a separate cartridge?
On most consumer inkjet printers there is no dedicated green cartridge. Green is created by combining Cyan and Yellow inks. If your green looks blue or lime, test your cyan and yellow cartridges separately using our Cyan Test Page and Yellow Test Page.
Can I test green colour on a laser printer?
Yes. Colour laser printers produce green by combining cyan and yellow toner. This green test page works on both inkjet and colour laser printers. On mono-laser printers the page will print in grayscale.
What should the green test blocks look like when printed correctly?
A good print shows a rich, flat green with no white specks, ten density steps that each step down clearly, and a gradient that fades smoothly to white. A green that leans blue or lime, or shows horizontal gaps, points to an uneven cyan/yellow balance or a partly blocked nozzle.
