If you see black dots or vertical marks repeating every ~3.7 inches on laser output, the drum kit is likely damaged. Check the drum counter in Menu → Machine Info.

Brother Printer Test Page — FAQ
How do I print a test page on a Brother printer?
Click Print above — our page works on all Brother models. On most Brother laser printers, you can press and hold the Go button for 4 seconds until the Toner light flashes to print a built-in test page.
How do I print a Brother configuration page?
On Brother laser printers, hold the Go button for 4 seconds with the printer in the Ready state. The printer will print a full settings page including toner level, drum kit life, and page count.
My Brother MFC prints with horizontal lines — how do I fix it?
Horizontal white lines on a Brother MFC usually indicate clogged ink nozzles (inkjet) or a worn drum unit (laser). For inkjet: run a Print Head Cleaning in the printer menu. For laser: check the drum life counter and replace the drum if it is nearing end of life.
How do I check toner levels on a Brother laser printer?
Press Menu → All Settings → Printer → Print Options → Test Print (or similar path depending on model) to see the toner and drum levels. Alternatively, our test page shows print density issues that indicate low toner.
Brother printer prints blank pages — what should I do?
For laser printers, remove the toner cartridge and gently rock it side-to-side to redistribute toner, then reinstall. For inkjets, run a Print Head Cleaning cycle. If blank pages persist, the print head may need replacing.
